The smallest land mammal is the tiny Savi's pygmy shrew which lives in southern Europe and Africa. It is 3.8 cm (11/2 in) long with a tail which measures 2.5 cm (1 in). A fully-grown shrew weighs only about aş much as a table tennis ball.
