Mole rats in Africa have very well-organised family groups. One large female is the queen and has all the babies. The smaller mole rats do the hard work, digging tunnels and finding food. The larger rats are much lazier than this. They look after the nests for the young and sound the alarm if they see an intruder near the burrow.
