Getting bigger
The pituitary gland produces the hormone which controls growth. You grow faster at night because more hormone is released into your blood when you are asleep. If too much growth hormone is made, a person may be much taller than normal. The tallest person known was an American, Robert Wadlow. He was 2.72m (8ft 11in) tall when he died in 1940.
