The biggest land mammal in the world is the African elephant. An adult bull (male) is sually about 3 m 1012 ft) tall and weighs some 51½ tonnes. The largest African elephant ever recorded was about 4 m (13 ft) tall and weighed over 12 tonnes, as much as 16 average-sized cars.
