Sea giant
The biggest mammal that has ever lived is the gigantic blue whale. A female caught in the South Atlantic in 1922 was over 33 m (110 ft) long, nearly 11½ times as long as an Olympic swimming pool. Blue whales are also the heaviest mammals in the world. A single whale can weigh as much as 130 tonnes, over 20 times heavier than a bull (male) African elephant and almost as heavy as 2,000 men.
