A blue whale calf is the biggest mammal baby. When it is born, a calf can be over 7 m (25 ft) long and weigh nearly 2 tonnes. By drinking up to 600 litres (132 gallons) of its mother's rich milk a day it can double its weight in just a week. By the time it is seven months old, a calf may weigh as much as 23 tonnes.
