Macaques are very intelligent monkeys. Scientists studying a group of macaques in Japan, began to feed them with sweet potatoes. A year later they were amazed to see a 3.5-year old female, Imo, dip her potato in a pool to wash off the sand. The others followed her lead but soon found that washing the food in the sea gave it a better, salty taste.
