All mammals have some hair. It helps to keep them warm by stopping heat escaping from their bodies and helps protect them from injury. A mammal's coat usually has two sorts of hair - a soft underfur with longer 'guard hairs' on top. The colour of some coats helps hide the mammal from enemies and is also used for making signals.
