What else do we get from temperate forests?
Temperate forests provide us with a range of products as well as wood. Charcoal is made by slowly burning certain kinds of wood. In the past, people depended upon woodland animals such as wild boar and deer for food and skins. Many edible fungi, including chanterelle, penny-bun and truffles grow in temperate woods. Some woodland plants, such as brambles and wild strawberries, have edible fruits, and cherries and currants were originally woodland plants.
