How big is a walrus?
The largest male walruses are more than 10 ft (3 meters) long and weigh 2,645 lb (1,200 kg). Females are smaller, averaging 9 ft (2.7 meters) long and weighing about 1,760 lb (800 kg) The walrus's skin is up to 1/½ in (4 cm) thick and covered with coarse hairs. The thick skin helps protect the walrus from the tusks of others.
