There are about 35 species of wild cat, ranging from the tiger to the African wild cat, which is the main ancestor of domestic cats. Cats live in most parts of the world in every sort of habitat from tropical rainforest and desert to the icy lands of Siberia. There are no wild cats in Antarctica, Australia, or New Zealand.
