Chimpanzees are among the very few mammals which can pull faces to show their feelings. They can show anger, happiness and interest very much like human beings. But if a chimp seems to be grinning, showing its teeth, it is probably frightened, not smiling. Chimps also shake their fists to show anger, and cuddle and touch each other to show affection.
