Humpback whales feed on small fish and krill floating near the sea surface. Sometimes they use a technique called bubble-netting, to catch their prey. The whale lurks below a shoal of fish, then swims slowly upward, blowing a stream of bubbles. The fish are trapped inside the net of bubbles and cannot escape from the whale's open jaws.
