Which beach-dwelling arthropods are at risk?
Many arthropods live in beach or ocean habitats. They are under threat from pollution, which makes the beach and water uninhabitable. Many crab, shrimp, and crayfish species are at risk, such as the longhorn fairy shrimp and the common cave crayfish, both from the USA. Arthropods are also killed in huge numbers by pesticides, and many are lost when their wild habitat is destroyed for building.
