Which insects have air-conditioned nests?
In insect nests, most of the "living accommodation" is below ground. So, in hot climates, they could overheat. Termites such as Macrotermes build a hollow nest with a central chimney and side channels to allow the circulation of air. Wind blowing across the top of the tall chimney helps to draw out air and create a breeze.
